Trikonasana, triangle posture by yoga teacher Caroline Klebl

This photograph was taken on the beach in Mexico during a yoga teacher training retreat. Trikonasana, triangle posture is the second standing posture in the Ashtanga yoga standing posture sequence. Trikonasana stretches the legs, hips, spine, arms, shoulders and neck. Enter the posture from Samastitihi, equal standing posture and hop the feet 3 to 4 feet apart, stretching the arms out to the sides over the legs. Rotate the right foot ninety degrees to the right, tilt the right hip down and exhale reach the right arm down toward the right big toe. Stretch the left arm into the sky, rotate the head and look up to the left thumb. Breathe deeply for five to ten breaths. Inhale up and exhale enter the Trikonasana on the left side. Again breathe deeply for five to ten breaths. Enjoy the yoga posture!
